20 Years of Story. Power. Possibility.

The Austin African American Book Festival kicked off its 20th anniversary celebration with a special Prelude event featuring Chuck D, who discussed and signed his new book, In the Hour of Chaos. Community members, elected officials, sponsors, and supporters gathered for an evening of inspiration, fellowship, and reflection.

The celebration included proclamations from the City of Austin and Travis County recognizing the festival's 20 years of impact in Central Texas and beyond. Guests enjoyed light bites, celebratory cupcakes, and a mocktail toast led by Austin's inaugural Poet Laureate, Zell Miller III.

Thank you to everyone who joined us as we launched a milestone year of celebrating Black books, authors, and ideas.
